How To Make Galaktoboureko - Easy Greek Custard Pie At Home



Today's Passion for Food we meet the Greek! With this wonderful classic Greek dessert, Galaktoboureko!  The names not the easiest in the world to say, but the it's actually quite easy to make and is truly an egggggcellent recipe to add to any collection!








Galaktoboureko - Easy Greek Custard Pie Recipe: 

For the custard:

  • 1/2 gallon (~2L) milk
  • 1 cup fine semolina flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla 
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt (if unsalted butter)



 For the syrup:
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • zest of 1 lemon

  • Plus one pack of Philo/Phyllo pastry
  • and 1/2 cup melted butter for basting
Bake @350 for 45 minutes.
